Group Classes

Early Childhood Music Group

Ages 0–3

Music begins long before a child can play an instrument. In these playful, parent-and-child classes, little ones explore sound through singing, movement, rhythm, listening, and hands-on musical play. Children build an early relationship with pulse, pitch, coordination, and expression while developing the confidence to respond to music naturally. There’s no pressure to perform and no expectation to sit still. We move, sing, listen, experiment, and make music together.

Suzuki Group

Ages 3–17
Violin – Cello – Guitar

Music is meant to be created together. Our Suzuki Group Classes are highly encouraged as a supplemental class for students taking Suzuki private lessons, giving them a place to reinforce technique, review repertoire, and experience the joy of playing alongside others. It goes beyond music. Students learn to listen, lead, support one another, and grow together, building confidence, community, and friendships that can last a lifetime.

Beginner Children & Youth Group

Ages 8–17
Violin – Cello – Guitar – Electric Bass – Voice

Why wait to make music with others? Our Beginner Groups are one-semester courses designed for kids who aren’t taking private lessons but want to learn an instrument alongside others. Students play together, learning by listening, watching, experimenting, and doing. We keep instruction in small, approachable pieces and get right back to making music. No experience necessary. Just show up and begin playing. After one semester, students can choose to dive deeper into the instrument they’ve explored or try a different instrument in the following semester.

Advanced Violin Group

Ages 13+ (Invitation Only)

For violinists ready to be challenged. Our Advanced Violin Group is our highest-level performance ensemble, bringing experienced players together to explore demanding repertoire, refine ensemble skills, and perform at a high level. Students push one another, learn from one another, and experience what it means to be part of a serious musical community. This is an invitation-only group for advanced violinists.

Chamber Music

Ages 8+ (Audition Video Required)

Some of the most powerful musical learning happens when we learn to listen to one another. Bring an ensemble you already play with, or let us help form a group for you within the School of Sound community. Our chamber music program pairs ensembles with one of our faculty members for focused coaching on repertoire, communication, interpretation, ensemble playing, and performance. It is a space to rehearse with purpose, challenge one another, and discover how individual musicians become one musical voice.
