School of Sound is an arts and culture hub built around a simple belief:

Every human being deserves the chance to create. Music just happens to be our language.

We welcome young musicians with ambitious goals, adults looking for a creative community, lifelong learners returning to an instrument, and complete beginners who have always wondered what it might feel like to make music.

Some students want to perform at Carnegie Hall.

Some simply want to play guitar with other people on a Thursday night.

Both belong here.

Our approach combines serious musicianship with curiosity, experimentation, collaboration, and play.

Students learn technique and craft. But they also learn how to listen, improvise, create, perform, and discover the kind of musician they want to become.

Music belongs to everyone.

Not just the gifted.

Not just the privileged.

Not just the lucky few who happened to begin at four years old.

Everyone.

From the toddler discovering rhythm by banging on a pot with a wooden spoon to the 107-year-old finally deciding it’s time to pick up the guitar.

We believe you don’t choose your instrument.

Your instrument chooses you.

Maybe you held it once as a child before life pulled you elsewhere.

Maybe someone convinced you that you weren’t talented enough.

Maybe a teacher turned music into something to survive instead of something to enjoy.

Or maybe no one ever handed you an instrument at all.

We’ve heard all of these stories.

And we believe it’s never too early (or too late) to begin.
